I started my career as a junior typographer at the advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi. I then moved across to its then sister agency, Bates Dorland. I spent 10 years here applying typographic design and art direction for campaigns, brand guidelines, and bespoke one off ads for many blue chip accounts. Clients included: Halifax, Land Rover, Safeway, Compaq, Grolsch, Superdrug to name just a few. I left Bates Dorland as Deputy Head of Design, to embark on the world of freelance where I have established myself as a reputable Senior Graphic Designer, servicing many known advertising agencies.
My freelance roles have seen me working for the likes of RKCR, BBH, JWT, McCann London, WCRS (Engine), Mother, Anomaly, and Truant. Freelancing at a variety of advertising agencies of differing sizes and structure, with a broad range of clients, has enabled me to work with many known key figures within the industry. This has helped me to gain much knowledge in art direction, and further my design knowledge. Working within these agencies I’ve been instrumental to help win pitches, awards, and have produced some outstanding work within each agencies team. I consider myself to work well under pressure, and always strive to produce the best work I can within the time given. Testimonials are available on request.
Personal
Outside of work, I enjoy holidaying! Life is for living after all. I’m a keen snowboarder so try to get to the mountains every year across several trips. I enjoy exploring European cities, sampling the culture they bring and my home from home is Menorca, where my family have had an apartment for over 40 years. I try to escape there as often as I can, taking in the peace and calm of the island and its people. Equally, I’m fully set up for work, with fast internet for a remote first approach.
Back at home, my dog Stanley, a Miniature Schnauzer, also keeps me busy. I relocated from London to Somerset in 2019 and fulfilled my wish of owning a dog and giving him a life in the countryside as opposed to the busyness of London. I’m lucky to have plenty of fantastic walks on my doorstep for us to both explore and many lovely country pubs for the reward after!
I’m also a collector of design books, which are great to trawl through rather than sitting on the internet to source some design inspiration. And, as my friends will tell you, I’m a huge trainer fanatic and am always on top of the latest trends and releases.
I attend many live concerts and festivals as I can, most recently seeing Oasis on their live ‘25 tour in Manchester, I’m still buzzing from it!
